Instructions
Basic Workflow
Choose a canvas preset, flip its orientation if needed, or enter a custom size, resolution, and background.
Select the collage images for the current page and turn on Randomize if you want their order shuffled during Build or Reshuffle.
Set the build direction, columns or rows, spacing, aspect mode, scale, and edge style.
Add one or two Body Text boxes when you want text to occupy real collage tiles, then click a text box on the canvas to edit its font, color, alignment, fill, and stroke.
Use Spotlight Hero when you want one selected collage image to anchor the design.
Click Build to create the page.
Use Fill Canvas with Square edges when you want the built collage expanded to the designer area.
Click any collage image, upload, or element to adjust it, then use the slider, drag inside its frame, or drag the circular arrow handle.
Use Save Project when you want a reusable project file you can open later.
Add, delete, clear, or reorder pages as needed.
Click Export to choose pages, file type, and packaging.
Collage Image Adjustments
Frames start filled so no empty canvas shows inside a collage image frame. Original layouts usually preserve the full image because the frame ratio follows the collage image ratio. 1:1 Grid, Spotlight Hero, and Fill Canvas may crop by design. The slider enlarges the selected item, dragging moves it inside the frame, and the circular arrow handle rotates it. Dragging, zooming, and rotation are limited so the frame never shows empty space. Reset returns the selected item to its calculated placement.
Uploads And Elements
Use Uploads for independent JPEG, PNG, SVG, or other browser-supported image elements on the page. SVG uploads with supported vector paths become editable elements with fill, stroke, and effects controls. Use Elements to browse the built-in vector library. Other image files are added as their own frames and can be moved, resized, enlarged inside the frame, reset, rotated, or deleted without joining the generated collage layout.
Canvas, Spotlight, And Fill Canvas
Canvas presets are starting points for common print sizes. Flip swaps width and height for landscape or portrait layouts, then Apply Size updates the current page. Designer Area borders reserve space around the generated collage for later text or design elements. Spotlight Hero works best with 12 or more collage images and keeps the selected hero image fixed while the supporting images arrange around it. Fill Canvas expands a Square-edge collage to the current designer area using the spacing value as the interior gap. Fill Canvas is disabled for Tapered edges because it would turn the tapered shape into a normal full-frame layout. Undo Fill Canvas restores the previous frame layout for the current page.
Pages And Exports
Each page keeps its own selected collage image set. Use the page controls to move the current page back, forward, to the front, or to the end. Export opens a dialog where you can choose pages, format, zipped PNG or JPEG exports, separate PDFs, or one multi-page PDF.
Installing Or Bookmarking
Smart Collage Designer can be used in the browser, bookmarked, or installed as an app window. Collage images, uploads, elements, and image backgrounds stay on your computer, and the app can reopen from its local cache after it has loaded once.
Chrome: open the app page, then use the address-bar install icon, or choose More, Cast, save, and share, then Install page as app.
Safari on macOS Sonoma or newer: open the app page, then choose File, Add to Dock. The app is saved to your home Applications folder and can open from the Dock or Spotlight.
Edge: open the app page, then use the install prompt, or choose Settings and more, More tools, Apps, then Install this site as an app.
Uninstalling
Chrome: open the installed app, choose More, Uninstall Smart Collage Designer, then Remove. You can also manage apps at chrome://apps.
Safari: open your home folder in Finder, open Applications, then drag the Smart Collage Designer web app to the Trash.
Edge: open edge://apps, choose Details for Smart Collage Designer, then Uninstall.
The app remembers the current draft in this browser so work usually reopens where you left off. Clearing browser data, switching browsers, or private browsing can remove that draft. Save Project creates a portable project file with the current pages, collage images, uploads, image backgrounds, canvas settings, and layout edits embedded so you can open the project later.
Tips
Use a canvas preset or inches and 300 ppi for print layouts; use Flip for landscape versions.
Use Original when you want collage image ratios respected, and 1:1 Grid when you want a cleaner square-tile look.
Use Scale % to leave more border space before fitting, or to make the generated collage larger before centering.
Save a project file before closing the browser if you need a dependable copy of the work.
Use Spotlight Hero with 12 or more collage images for the most balanced surrounding layout.
Use Fill Canvas after a Square-edge Build when you want the collage to fill the page while keeping spacing consistent.
Use Undo Fill Canvas before rebuilding if you want to return to the original calculated layout.
Use Reshuffle to try a different arrangement with the same collage images.
Use the page move buttons to reorder album pages before exporting.
Use a zipped folder when exporting several PNG or JPEG pages.
Use one multi-page PDF when you want a single proof or share file.
Use New Project only when you want to clear everything and start fresh.
